Geriatric Care Managers: Services, Fees and Payment Options - Paying For Senior Care

Geriatric Care Managers: Services, Fees and Payment Options - Paying For Senior Care

This is great information about services provided by Geriatric Care Managers.  The National Association of Geriatric Care Managers has a website that list certified GCM by state.

The first step is to identify that you need help and the expertise that comes with utilizing a GCM.

Second...realize that you are not where you want to be with the situation and there is a resource that can help you get to where you want to be.

Third....it is unique to have a professional GCM work with you during these times when you have to make decisions about an area of healthcare you haven't worked with before.  Many GCMs have professional degrees; such as, registered nurses or social workers that allows them to use all their experience and education to help you.

One way to look at it is.....it would be like having an organization of certified "parents" who could have been our own consultants when we were raising our kids...be there to help us evaluate options, look at resources and prepare a plan of action for the issues.  Wouldn't that had been nice!

So, know that when you are dealing with issues of elder care or healthcare there is a professional that is available to you to help guide you through the system.  They have dealt with most of the issues before and have strong connections and resources to help.  They can even work with you when there isn't a problem but when you want to get plans in place so that you won't have to be in a crisis or reacting to problems.  It is worth it to save you from taking countless hours from work, losing precious time with your own family, preventing crisis in your senior's life to reduce health declines and giving you peace of mind that you have an advocate and professional consultant at your side.

So, check out the NAPGCM website at www.caremanager.org .  Also, feel free to email me or call if I can be of assistance.
