AN EASY HELP FOR SENIORS

Helping seniors eliminate the number of unsolicited phone calls that they receive can help reduce their risk of being scammed.  The Do Not  Call List is easy to register for and can greatly reduce the phone calls.  It takes 31 days after you register for the phone number to be placed on that list.  Then, if  you get a call, you tell the solicitor you are on the do not call list and to remove you from their list.  You also inform them that if they call again, you will report them.  The way to report a company is also on the website.

Here is information from the website about another scam and how to register.

Scammers have been making phone calls claiming to represent the National Do Not Call Registry. The calls claim to provide an opportunity to sign up for the Registry. These calls are not coming from the Registry or the Federal Trade Commission, and you should not respond to these calls. To add your number to the Registry you can call 888-382-1222 from the phone you wish to register, or go online

Your registration will not expire. Telephone numbers placed on the National Do Not Call Registry will remain on it permanently due to the Do-Not-Call Improvement Act of 2007, which became law in February 2008. Read more about it at http://www.ftc.gov/opa/2008/04/dncfyi.shtm.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT
THE NATIONAL DO NOT CALL REGISTRY
The National Do Not Call Registry gives you a choice about whether to receive telemarketing calls at home. Most telemarketers should not call your number once it has been on the registry for 31 days. If they do, you can file a complaint at this Website. You can register your home or mobile phone for free.  Http://donotcall.gov
