Caregiving for a person with dementia is difficult and those caregivers need to have a break. Interfaith CarePartners trains volunteers with local churches to provide a monthly 4 hour activity program. These volunteers provide support and caring activities to give the caregiver a little bit of time for themselves. These programs are free but you must call and have an assessment done prior to being accepted into the program. Below is the contact and brief description for Interfaith CarePartners who can direct you to a program near you.
“Alzheimer's Care Team-Gathering Place - Most teams serving care partners with dementia conduct once or twice-monthly activity times onsite, at their congregation campuses. Alzheimer's Care Team - Gathering Place meetings combine physical movement, socialization, music, and other memory-stimulating activity in a safe and comfortable 3.5-hour time block, enabling caregivers to attend to their personal needs without worry. A professional staff member attends each Gathering Place to provide expert support and assistance to the volunteers.”
